Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the I.R. of Iran on the Occasion of International Quds Day

The last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, by the initiative of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace), was designated as International Quds Day. This day symbolizes the unified protest of the Muslim world and freedom-loving people across the globe against the usurpation of the historic land of Palestine and the establishment of a fabricated, occupying, terrorist, and racist entity in the heart of the Islamic world and the West Asia region.

Quds Day represents the innate and moral opposition of the global community to the violation of a nation’s right to self-determination and stands as a sign of the awakening of human conscience in the face of organized oppression and injustice against fellow human beings.

The Zionist regime, benefiting from the comprehensive support of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and several other countries—and in the absence of any effective action by the United Nations and the international community to hold the ruling clique of this regime accountable—has committed the most heinous crimes in the occupied land of Palestine. The horrific genocide in Gaza over the past two and a half years, alongside the killing and torture of Palestinians in the West Bank, constitutes the latest example of the colonial policy aimed at the eradication of Palestine, a policy that has been pursued since the establishment of this regime in 1948.

At the same time as carrying out the systematic killing of Palestinians and forcibly displacing them from their homeland, the Zionist regime has, through its affiliated media networks, launched a sinister media campaign to spread disinformation and distort reality in an attempt to reverse the roles of perpetrator and victim and to whitewash its crimes and those of its supporters.

We commemorate this year’s Quds Day at a time when the Iranian nation is defending its sovereignty, national dignity, and territorial integrity against the brutal military aggression of the Zionist regime and the United States. The military aggression of the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran is a clear manifestation of the savage, inhumane, and hegemonic nature of a regime that, over the past three years alone, in addition to killing nearly 75,000 innocent people in occupied Palestine, has attacked seven Islamic countries and carried out thousands of terrorist acts in various parts of the world. The aggressive attack by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran is an assault against the entire region and the Islamic world, carried out in pursuit of the sinister illusion of “Greater Israel.” Without doubt, this illusion will never be realized in the face of the heroic defense, steadfastness, and resilience of the Iranian people. Nevertheless, this does not diminish the historic responsibility of all Muslim nations and freedom-loving peoples around the world to confront the dangerous and malevolent schemes of the Zionist regime.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran reiterates Iran’s principled policy of supporting the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people to realize their right to self-determination and to free themselves from the yoke of occupation, apartheid, and colonial domination by the Zionist regime. It also recalls the moral and legal responsibility of all countries, in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, to support the Palestinian people in achieving this fundamental right and in establishing an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital throughout the entire historic land of Palestine.

On the eve of Quds Day, we honor the memory of all martyrs of the Resistance who, on various fronts—including Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, and other parts of the world—sacrificed their lives in the struggle against the occupation, oppression, aggression, and terrorism of the Zionist regime.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran pays tribute to the noble soul of the martyred and visionary leader of the Islamic Revolution, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei (may his revered soul rest in peace), the Master of the Martyrs of the Resistance, and to his loyal companions who were martyred during the attack by American-Zionist aggressors. It reaffirms its steadfast commitment to preserving his great legacy in the defense of truth, justice, and freedom.

Undoubtedly, the passionate and conscious participation of the Iranian people in commemorating International Quds Day this year will not only represent a renewal of allegiance to the lofty ideals of the late Imam and our martyred leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei (may their noble souls rest in peace), but will also serve as the resounding voice of the Iranian nation in declaring its abhorrence of the brutal aggression and savage crimes committed by the Zionist regime and the United States against our beloved homeland.
